After 30,000 miles, transmission fluid begins to show its age. It turns brown and oxidizes, due to the combination of time and heat. Deposits begin to form around the transmission’s many moving parts, resulting in valves that stick and gears that slip or are sluggish and chatter as they shift. In our experience, many customers are sure they need a new transmission when they really just need a transmission flush.

If you do require a new transmission, we can replace it. While many transmissions shops may take your transmission apart and “rebuild” it, in essence they only replace the worn components.

At Ed’s, we go back in with a completely remanufactured transmission. We use Jasper transmissions. Most come with a 3-year, 100,000 mile warranty. They completely remanufacture your transmission with all new internal parts and dyno test it before it leaves their facility. They correct any inherent issues a particular transmission may have had from the manufacturer so you won’t have the same issue down the road.

On older vehicles, many elect to go a more economical route and have us install a used transmission. You miss out on the guarantee, as the salvage yard will only guarantee the transmission works at the time of install, or possibly 6 months after. If it fails in the near future, you are out your investment. If it fails within the 6 months, they will give you another transmission, but you have to pay the labor again to have it installed. Because of this, we encourage our clients to choose a Jasper transmission.
